Manchester United suffered a setback when it was revealed that English defender Harry Maguire would be out of action for around three weeks due to a muscle injury. The injury occurred during a training session, adding Maguire to United’s long list of sidelined players. This means that Maguire will miss important upcoming matches, including the trip to Crystal Palace and potentially the final three Premier League games against Arsenal, Newcastle, and Brighton. Despite this, there are no concerns about his availability for the European Championship with England, which kicks off on June 14. There is also a possibility that Maguire could return in time for the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 25.

The absence of Maguire adds to the selection issues facing United manager Erik ten Hag, who had to play midfielder Casemiro in central defence in the team’s recent draw with Burnley. With several key players already ruled out due to injuries, including Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, and Raphael Varane, United’s defensive options have been limited. The team has dropped to eighth place in the Premier League standings and will need to secure victories in their upcoming matches to improve their chances of finishing in the top six.

Despite the challenges facing United, there is hope that some injured players, such as Jonny Evans, may return to action soon. However, the team will have to navigate through a tough schedule without key defenders like Maguire. The pressure is mounting on ten Hag to find solutions to the team’s injury crisis and to secure positive results in the remaining games of the season. The return of Maguire in time for the FA Cup final could be a significant boost for United as they look to end the season on a high note.

United fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on Maguire’s recovery and hoping for a swift return to action for the influential defender. In the meantime, the team will have to rely on the remaining players to step up and deliver strong performances in his absence. The competition for places in the starting lineup will intensify, providing opportunities for other players to showcase their abilities and make a case for regular inclusion in the team. With the race for a top-six finish heating up, United will need to show resilience and determination to finish the season on a positive note.
