Two individuals, a 40-year-old man and a female accomplice, have been sentenced to five years in prison by the High Criminal Court in Manama. Additionally, a gas cylinder used in their crime has been confiscated. The duo was found guilty of carjacking a woman and her daughter by threatening to detonate the gas cylinder with a lighter. The Public Prosecution charged the male defendant, 46, and his female accomplice, 32, with imposing their will on the victims. The prosecution alleged that the man used the threat of the gas cylinder and lighter to force the victims out of their car before stealing it and fleeing the scene.

The incident took place at a market in East Riffa, where the woman and her daughter were in the car while the husband stepped out to visit a shop. The male defendant approached the car with a gas cylinder and a lighter, threatening to blow up the vehicle if they did not comply. The woman quickly exited the car with her daughter, allowing the defendants to steal the car along with her belongings. The woman’s husband, who testified in court, witnessed the incident and confirmed that the male defendant had threatened to detonate the gas cylinder. The defendants then fled the scene, leaving the gas cylinder behind on the pavement.

Another witness also testified to seeing the male defendant and his female accomplice rolling the gas cylinder towards the parked car. The victim was forced out of her car, and the defendants stole it before driving away. The officer overseeing the case mentioned that the defendants confessed to the crime after being identified through security camera footage. It was also revealed that the male defendant had a history of theft, further supporting the prosecution’s case against him.

The High Criminal Court’s decision to sentence the two individuals to five years in prison and confiscate the gas cylinder serves as a stern warning against carjacking and similar crimes in Bahrain. The incident highlights the dangers faced by victims of such crimes and the importance of taking swift action to apprehend and punish those responsible. By imposing a harsh penalty on the defendants, the court sends a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated in Bahrain. The justice system is committed to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens by holding criminals accountable for their actions.

The victim’s husband’s testimony and the witness accounts provided crucial evidence in convicting the defendants of carjacking. The male defendant’s history of theft further strengthens the case against him and supports the prosecution’s allegations. The successful identification of the defendants through security camera footage demonstrates the effectiveness of using technology in solving crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of surveillance systems in preventing and combating criminal activities.

In conclusion, the High Criminal Court’s decision to sentence the 40-year-old man and his female accomplice to five years in prison for carjacking sends a clear message that such crimes will not be tolerated in Bahrain. The court’s judgment, along with the confiscation of the gas cylinder used in the crime, marks a significant victory for the victims and serves as a warning to potential offenders. The successful prosecution of the defendants, supported by witness testimonies and security camera footage, showcases the effectiveness of the justice system in identifying and punishing criminals. This case highlights the importance of swift action and accountability in ensuring the safety and security of all citizens in Bahrain.
