An FIR has been registered against actor and CPI (M) MLA Mukesh M from Kollam following the complaint of actress Minu Muneer. Another FIR was registered against actor Jayasurya on the same complaint. The actress has alleged verbal and physical abuse by actors Mukesh M, Jayasurya, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Idavela Babu during their collaborations on film projects. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken the statement of the actress regarding the accusations.

Minu Muneer detailed her experiences, claiming misconduct by the actors. She mentioned an incident where Jayasurya hugged and forcefully kissed her from behind. Additionally, Idavela Babu expressed interest in a sexual relationship, and Maniyanpilla Raju made inappropriate suggestions about her hotel accommodation. The allegations emerged after the resignation of director Ranjith and actor Siddique from their positions in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) due to separate accusations against them.

Muneer shared her allegations on Facebook, recounting incidents dating back to 2013 involving Mukesh, Maniyanpilla Raju, Idavela Babu, Jayasurya, and others. The abuse she faced led her to leave the Malayalam film industry and relocate to Chennai. In response to the accusations, Mukesh M issued a press release asserting his innocence and welcoming ongoing investigations to uncover the truth behind the accusations.

Mukesh M mentioned that the group accusing him had previously sought financial assistance and tried to blackmail him. He emphasized the need for a thorough and transparent investigation to clear his name amid the controversy. The situation is heightened by the recent release of a redacted version of the Justice Hema Committee report, which exposes cases of harassment and exploitation in the Malayalam film industry, particularly by a small group of male figures.

The report highlights the dominance and control of male figures in the industry’s operations, prompting the Kerala government to form a special investigation team to address the allegations. In his press note, Mukesh M expressed his commitment to society as an actor and public representative with a family background in theater. He provided clarifications and evidence to refute the accusations against him while calling for a fair inquiry to establish the truth behind the allegations.
