The Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate has completed the maintenance of 20 falajs in the wilayats of Ibri, Yanqul, and Dhank. This project is part of a larger initiative to maintain 100 falajs at a cost of OMR 848,000. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources is committed to preserving water resources in Oman, and the maintenance of falajs is a crucial aspect of this initiative.

Salim bin Ali Al Amrani, the Director General of the Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources in Al Dhahirah Governorate, emphasized the importance of falajs as key water resources for irrigation. The recent unusual weather conditions in the governorate have affected the water channels, making maintenance of falajs necessary. The Directorate General is dedicated to preserving these traditional water channels to ensure the sustainability of agricultural activities in the region.

The maintenance of falajs is ongoing, with 20 already completed and work progressing on the remaining 80. Abdullah bin Hamad Al Jassasi, who supervises the falajs of Al Mabouth and Al Mafjour in the wilayat of Ibri, highlighted the vital role falajs play in supplying drinking water to villages and supporting irrigation. These ancient water channels are essential for preserving agricultural activities in the governorate, making their maintenance a top priority for the authorities.

With a total of 560 falajs in the governorate, the efforts to maintain and preserve these traditional water channels are crucial for sustaining agricultural activities in the region.
