Hungary’s rising political star, Péter Magyar, is on a mission to rebuild his country step by step, brick by brick. In an exclusive interview with Euronews, Magyar, the leader of the Tisza party in Hungary, shared his vision of creating a new European, peaceful, and liveable modern Hungary. As the only popular alternative to Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Magyar is determined to bring about change and build a brighter future for his country.

During the interview with Euronews political reporter Vincenzo Genovese, Magyar discussed various topics including Orbán’s media machine, his own court cases in Hungary, and his stance on issues such as Ukraine, migration, and relations with China. With a focus on moving Hungary forward and addressing pressing challenges, Magyar’s leadership is being closely watched both at home and abroad.

As the plenary session in Strasbourg comes to a close, attention is shifting back to Brussels where EU justice ministers are set to meet to discuss important issues such as Schengen, migration, and asylum policies. Following Germany’s reintroduction of land border controls to tackle irregular migration, these discussions are crucial in shaping the future of EU policies in these areas.

One of the key topics on the agenda is the EU regulation aimed at detecting online child sexual abuse material, a priority for Hungary’s Council presidency. However, reaching a consensus among member states on this issue remains a challenge, indicating that a vote may not happen anytime soon. Despite the complexities involved, Hungary is committed to addressing this pressing issue and ensuring the protection of children online.

In addition to these discussions, the 2025 World University Rankings have been released, revealing interesting insights into the performance of European universities. While many may have expected certain institutions to top the list, this year’s rankings have shown a decline in the overall performance of European universities. This shift highlights the need for continued investment in higher education to maintain competitiveness on a global scale.

Radio Schuman, hosted and produced by Maïa de la Baume, offers insightful interviews and analysis on European affairs, with contributions from journalists and experts in the field. As Hungary’s political landscape continues to evolve, the leadership of figures like Péter Magyar will play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s future and its place in the wider European context.
