Madayn, the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, has recently achieved a significant milestone by receiving Level 2 certification in the EFQM Model from the European Foundation for Quality Management. This recognition highlights Madayn’s dedication to excellence, quality, and service maturity levels across its industrial cities and Masar Service Centres. Launched in June 2021, the ‘Madayn Institutional Excellence Programme’ involves a comprehensive restructuring of strategies and support sectors, as well as a detailed study of Madayn’s ecosystem, including stakeholders, employees, investors, clients, and international investment climate.

Eng. Abdullah Al Kabi, Acting Head of the Strategy and Institutional Support Sector, and Head of the Executive Committee for the Institutional Excellence Programme, emphasized the significance of Madayn’s achievement as the first government and private body in Oman to reach Level 2 of the EFQM Model. Al Kabi noted that this milestone demonstrates Madayn’s alignment with global excellence standards and its commitment to enhancing regional and international competitiveness through quality and institutional excellence. The adoption of the EFQM Model followed a thorough study of various excellence and quality models, with the EFQM Model chosen for its comprehensiveness, depth, and ease of implementation.

Houda Al Battashi, Director of Excellence and Institutional Transformation Department at Madayn, highlighted the crucial role played by internal teams in executing the Institutional Excellence Programme. These teams engaged in in-depth analysis and restructuring of strategies, internal and external processes, and service engineering using methodologies such as the Kaizen approach, Project Management Office, internal assessment, ADKAR Model, and EFQM Radar methodology. Al Battashi stressed that implementing the EFQM Model presented a significant challenge for Madayn’s employees, requiring the adoption of new approaches, initiatives, and monitoring tools.

Mohammed Al Ajmi, Head of Project and Improvement Management Department and Head of the Excellence Team at Madayn, emphasized that institutional excellence is a core principle for achieving outstanding performance and surpassing competitors through innovative and effective practices. Madayn’s approach focuses on strategic leadership, customer orientation, results-driven management, continuous innovation and enhancement, as well as partnerships and talent development. Al Ajmi noted that the challenges faced during the EFQM implementation are evolving into valuable lessons, including resistance to change, which is being addressed through awareness initiatives, training sessions, motivation for teams, and improved communication within the organization.

Overall, Madayn’s achievement in attaining Level 2 certification in the EFQM Model reflects its commitment to excellence, quality, and continuous improvement in its operations. The ‘Madayn Institutional Excellence Programme’ has paved the way for enhanced strategic alignment, service maturity, and stakeholder engagement, positioning Madayn as a leader in quality and excellence within Oman and beyond. Through the dedication and hard work of its internal teams, Madayn has successfully navigated the challenges of implementing the EFQM Model and continues to strive for excellence in all aspects of its operations.
