On Sunday, the Assistive Technology Center Qatar – Mada launched the virtual sign language interpreter ‘Bu Hamad’ on the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF)’s website. This launch coincided with the beginning of the International Week of the Deaf and was attended by the Minister of Social Development and Family HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad. The initiative is part of the efforts of MSDF and Mada Center to enhance digital inclusion and ensure digital access rights for people with hearing disabilities.

The Acting CEO of Mada Center, Aljazi Nasser Aljabor, emphasized the importance of innovation and research in enabling people with hearing disabilities to access web content and electronic services. She stated that the launch of the virtual sign language interpreter ‘Bu Hamad’ demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to providing innovative technological solutions to enhance digital inclusion and provide equal opportunities for all. This initiative is seen as a significant step in facilitating digital access to government information and showcases Mada Center’s leadership in research and technology initiatives to empower individuals with disabilities.

Aljabor highlighted the importance of continuing research and technology development to find innovative solutions that promote comprehensive digital integration. This move towards digital accessibility for individuals with hearing disabilities is a testament to the dedication of Mada Center and MSDF in creating a more inclusive society. By providing tools such as the virtual sign language interpreter ‘Bu Hamad’, these organizations are working towards breaking down barriers and ensuring equal access to digital content and services for all individuals, regardless of their abilities.

The launch of ‘Bu Hamad’ is just one example of the ongoing efforts to make electronic platforms more accessible for individuals with disabilities. The collaboration between MSDF and Mada Center underscores the importance of harnessing technology to create a more inclusive society where all individuals have equal opportunities to access digital content and services. By prioritizing digital inclusion and accessibility, these organizations are paving the way for a more equitable future where individuals with disabilities can fully participate in the digital world.

As technology continues to evolve, it is imperative that research and innovation in the field of assistive technology also progress to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. The launch of the virtual sign language interpreter ‘Bu Hamad’ is a reflection of the advancements being made in this area, as well as a testament to the commitment of MSDF and Mada Center to ensure that individuals with hearing disabilities are not left behind in the digital age. Through continued collaboration and investment in technological solutions, these organizations are working towards a more inclusive and accessible society for all.
