The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain conducted 582 inspection campaigns and visits from 11 to 17 August 2024, resulting in the detention of 41 violating workers and the deportation of 157 violators. Violations related to various laws, including the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and the Residency Laws, were monitored, and legal measures were taken for observed violations. These efforts aim to maintain the stability and competitiveness of the labour market and ensure economic and social security in the Kingdom.

The inspection visits covered shops in all governorates, with 15 joint campaigns involving government entities such as the Ministry of Interior, Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs, Police Directorate, General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and the Electricity and Water Authority. These collaborative efforts are crucial in addressing illegal labour practices and maintaining a safe and fair working environment for all.

The LMRA emphasized the importance of joint coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection campaigns across all governorates in Bahrain. By addressing violations and practices that harm the labour market and economic and social security, the authorities aim to create a conducive environment for both workers and employers. Reporting violations through the authority’s website, call center, or the government’s Suggestions and Complaints System is encouraged to support these efforts effectively.

It is essential for all members of society to support the government agencies in combating illegal labour practices by reporting any violations they witness. The LMRA’s call for cooperation reflects the collective responsibility in ensuring a fair and lawful working environment for everyone. By reporting violations promptly, individuals can contribute to maintaining the integrity of the labour market and safeguarding the rights of both workers and employers.

The LMRA’s proactive approach through inspection campaigns and joint efforts with government entities demonstrates its commitment to upholding the laws and regulations that govern the labour market in Bahrain. By enforcing these laws rigorously, the authorities aim to deter violations and create a transparent and accountable system. Such measures not only protect the rights of workers but also promote a healthy and competitive labour market that benefits the overall economy of the Kingdom.

In conclusion, the recent inspection campaigns and visits conducted by the LMRA highlight the ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with labour laws in Bahrain. By detaining violating workers, deporting offenders, and monitoring violations, the authorities aim to maintain the stability and competitiveness of the labour market. Through joint coordination with government agencies and encouraging public participation in reporting violations, the LMRA seeks to create a safe and fair working environment that benefits both workers and employers. It is crucial for all members of society to support these efforts by reporting any illegal labour practices and contributing to the integrity of the labour market in Bahrain.
