US actor Ron Ely, best known for portraying Tarzan in the 1960s television show, has passed away at the age of 86. His daughter, Kirsten Casale Ely, shared the news on Instagram, describing him as one of the greatest men she has ever known. Ely starred in Tarzan on NBC from 1966 to 1968, where he performed his own stunts and faced numerous challenges, including injuries and animal attacks. Despite retiring from acting in 2001, he later made a brief comeback in the television film Expecting Amish in 2014.

In addition to Tarzan, Ely appeared in other popular television shows such as The Love Boat and Wonder Woman in the 1980s. He was born in Texas in 1938, married his high school sweetheart in 1959, and went on to host the Miss America pageant in the early 1980s, where he met his wife Valerie. Together, they had three children. Ely passed away at his home in Los Alamos, California, on September 29th.
