Dr Fatheya Al Khaja, the founder and medical director of Healthy Nation Medical Center, credits her mother for instilling entrepreneurship in her from a young age. Her journey began with a small cafeteria in her hometown, followed by various ventures including an online trading business and a Pizza and Pasta shop. Eventually, she established a dedicated mobile phlebotomy home care facility, fulfilling her late father’s wish for her to own a clinic.
After studying medicine in Ireland and obtaining a Master’s degree in Medical Genetics and immunology in the UK, Dr Fatheya returned to the UAE. With the support of her husband, Ali Darwish, she founded the Healthy Nation Medical Center in 2020, realizing a long-held dream. Ali, who graduated from UAE University and did a postgraduate program from Derby University, UK, explains the concept behind their mobile phlebotomy service, which provides blood collection at the patient’s convenience.
The idea for the business came from observing the struggles people faced during blood collection, prompting Dr Fatheya to offer sample collection at the comfort of patient’s homes or offices. Healthy Nation Medical Center has partnered with prestigious diagnostic centers, ensuring clients receive the best rates and service. Dr Fatheya credits her success to mentors who taught her resilience and ambition, as well as the support she received from the UAE.
Communication and mutual support are crucial for couples venturing into business together, according to Dr Fatheya. She emphasizes the importance of establishing clear boundaries between business and family life to maintain harmony and productivity. Balancing personal and professional aspects requires dedication and understanding, but can lead to a rewarding partnership in both marriage and business.
