Moza Al Dahak Al Shamsi is a trailblazer in the field of technology, breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations of Emirati women. Raised in Sharjah, her interest in computers was sparked at a young age when her father introduced a computer into their home in 1997. This marked a significant milestone in her life, leading her to explore the vast possibilities that technology offered. This early exposure laid the foundation for her journey into the world of technology, where she found empowerment and passion.

With a background in computer science, Moza started her career as a computer programmer in 2011, a field not commonly represented by Emirati women at the time. Despite facing societal perceptions and challenges, she remained determined and dedicated to her work. Her efforts at the Sharjah Government’s Department of Housing led to the successful implementation of an automation project, setting a new standard for efficiency in the department.

As she progressed in her career, Moza highlighted the importance of mentorship and support in overcoming self-doubt and limited resources. Influential figures like Dr Aisha Bin Bishr and Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid bin Sultan Al Qasimi inspired her journey and provided guidance along the way. Her move to Abu Dhabi in 2021 opened new opportunities for growth, allowing her to leverage her expertise in digital transformation within the media sector at the Creative Media Authority.

Despite being in a traditionally male-dominated field, Moza recognizes the responsibility she bears as a woman in a leadership position. She actively engages in mentorship and supports young Emirati women in the organization, fostering an environment where they can thrive and excel. Reflecting on the progress of women in the UAE, particularly in leadership and technology, Moza expresses optimism for the future and hopes to see more women leading tech startups and speaking at conferences.

She credits the leadership of the UAE for creating opportunities for women and implementing effective policies that support work-life balance. Looking ahead, Moza envisions a future where women continue to excel in technology and encourages young Emirati girls to speak up, express their opinions, and keep learning. With her inspiring journey and dedication to empowering women in technology, Moza Al Dahak Al Shamsi is a role model for aspiring professionals in the field.
