Dubai has announced an open call for artists based in the UAE to submit their innovative ideas for art installations that will be displayed at major roundabouts in the city. This initiative, in partnership with Dubai Municipality and the Roads and Transport Authority, aims to showcase how local art practices can blend with Dubai’s urban landscape and natural scenery.

The submission deadline for artists interested in participating is July 11, with a cash prize being offered for each selected project to cover design, materials, manufacturing, and implementation costs. The application process involves a review by experts and artists who will select the qualifying projects based on their creativity, innovation, and commitment to highlighting local cultural diversity.

Applicants are required to use sustainable materials that can withstand environmental conditions and ensure the safety and security of both the public and the artwork. The proposals must be original, contemporary, and have not been previously exhibited or produced. Artists or groups applying must have experience in producing installation artworks to be considered for the open call.

This initiative is part of a larger series of artistic commissions aimed at transforming Dubai’s streets, neighborhoods, and public areas into cultural destinations. It aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which focuses on improving residents’ quality of life through people-centric development. The goal is to create a vibrant and culturally rich environment that attracts tourists and enhances the city’s cultural appeal.

This opportunity allows local artists and creatives to be part of Dubai’s urban transformation and contribute to the city’s artistic landscape. By encouraging innovation and highlighting cultural diversity, these art installations will add a unique and creative touch to the city’s roundabouts, making them visually appealing and reflective of Dubai’s vibrant art scene.

If you are an Emirati or UAE-based artist, designer, or architect with a passion for creating unique and innovative art installations, this open call is your chance to showcase your talents and contribute to Dubai’s cultural development. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of a project that aims to blend art with urban life and enhance the city’s cultural identity.
