LIC to host opening race of 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship season

The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season opener, the Qatar 1812 KM – 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship, is set to take place from February 26 to 28 at the Lusail International Circuit in Doha, Qatar. This exciting event, held in honour of Qatar’s National Day, will feature multiple cars racing simultaneously across two categories: Hypercar and LMGT3, in an intense battle that will last up to ten hours. Tickets for the event are now on sale, with a QR200 ticket providing access to two prime viewing areas: the Main Grandstand and Lusail Hill, offering spectators an unparalleled view of the action.

The WEC is entering its 13th year and remains the world’s premier international endurance championship. The 2025 season will consist of eight rounds, with races in Qatar, Italy, Belgium, France, Brazil, the USA, Japan, and Bahrain. A minimum of 14 manufacturers are expected to compete, including notable figures such as nine-time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi, who will be driving the BMW M4 GT3 #46 in the LMGT3 category. Additionally, the Iron Dames, a project supporting women in motorsport, will be participating in their Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 #83, and former Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button will continue his campaign with the JOTA Sport team.

The event schedule includes free practice sessions on February 26, qualifying sessions on February 27, and the main event, the Qatar 1812 KM – 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship, on February 28. Fans can expect an action-packed weekend of racing as they witness some of the world’s top drivers and manufacturers compete for victory on the track. Children under 12 can attend the event for free, making it a family-friendly outing for motorsport enthusiasts of all ages.
