Legal professionals in the Ministry of Justice briefed on the legislative expertise of the Council of Ministers’ General Secretariat

The Ministry of Justice legal professionals recently concluded a two-day field visit to the Council of Ministers’ General Secretariat in Doha. The purpose of the visit was to enhance legal cooperation between the two organizations. During the visit, the contracts department professionals were given a presentation on the General Secretariat’s organizational structure, the competencies and mechanisms of the Fatwa department, as well as the Fatwa procedures in accordance with approved legal controls. Additionally, the presentation discussed the competence of the Legislation Department and the various steps a bill goes through before becoming a law. The mechanism and legislation procedures of the Permanent Committee for Legislative Affairs, established under Amiri Decree No. (33) of 2000, were also highlighted.

In response to the visit, the Contracts Department granted the General Secretariat’s legal departments a special official gazette issue documenting the phases of its development. Contracts Department Director Noor Ibrahim Al Muraikhi expressed her appreciation for the visit, stating that it was a significant step towards enhancing cooperation and exchanging expertise among legal departments. The visit, which was initiated by Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, is aimed at improving the quality of legal work across the country and enhancing the skills of Qatari legal professionals. Al Muraikhi emphasized that the exchange of expertise would help develop legal work and align it with human resources development, a key pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Overall, this visit highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen legal cooperation in Qatar and improve the skills and capabilities of legal professionals in the country. By exchanging expertise and knowledge between different legal departments, the hope is to enhance the quality of legal work and ensure that it remains in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
