The upcoming biopic “Lee” portrays the life and work of American war correspondent Lee Miller during World War Two, with Kate Winslet taking on the lead role. The latest trailer released by Sky showcases Winslet struggling to capture poignant images amid the brutality of the war, depicting Miller’s relentless pursuit to document Nazi atrocities in wartime Europe. Directed by Ellen Kuras, the film offers a powerful depiction of war journalism and one woman’s fight to make a difference by telling the stories of heroes and villains in a world overwhelmed by hatred and desperation.

Winslet’s character in the trailer passionately asserts her desire to do her part and challenges the prevailing sexism that Miller faced in her quest for journalistic integrity. Despite facing challenges and prejudices, Lee Miller became a pioneering figure in war photography, capturing pivotal moments such as the devastation of the Blitz and the aftermath of D-Day for British Vogue. The biopic highlights her personal sacrifices and unwavering determination to bear witness to the brutal realities of war, showcasing the haunting images that etched themselves into her conscience throughout her courageous career.

The trailer also introduces a stellar supporting cast, including Marion Cotillard as the fashion director of French Vogue, Andy Samberg as Life Magazine photographer David E Scherman, and Alexander Skarsgard as English Surrealist painter and photographer Roland Penrose. Set against the backdrop of Lee Miller recounting her wartime experiences in 1977, the film promises to delve deep into Miller’s indomitable spirit and enduring legacy. Scheduled to premiere in September, “Lee” offers a compelling portrayal of a remarkable woman who pushed boundaries and challenged norms in a world torn apart by war.
