The 9th edition of the Artist in Residence programme at Fire Station in Doha, Qatar has been officially launched, unveiling the selected artists for this prestigious opportunity. The programme will run from September 15, 2024 to June 15, 2025, offering a transformative platform for artists to refine their creative skills through mentorship, production support, and curatorial guidance. This world-class residency programme aims to promote and nurture Qatar’s artistic talents, providing access to studio space for talent development and concluding with an exhibition of the artists’ works in the Garage Gallery of Fire Station.

Khalifa Al Obaidly, Director of Fire Station, expressed excitement about the 9th edition of the Artist in Residence programme, highlighting its legacy of empowering Qatar’s emerging artists. With over 140 applications received during the Open Call, 15 artists have been selected for this edition, representing a diverse range of nationalities including Syria, France, Qatar, India, Sudan, Jordan, Canada, Pakistan, Colombia, and Egypt. The selected artists will have the opportunity to explore their creativity and develop their work, with the potential to make a significant impact within Qatar’s artistic community and beyond.

Saida Al Khulaifi, Head of Programmes and Exhibitions at Fire Station, emphasized the programme’s commitment to fostering creative talent by offering a nine-month residency for artists to refine their practice in visual arts, photography, film, sound art, and design. Through collaborations with international residency programmes in Paris and New York City, as well as local workshops and projects, Fire Station aims to enrich the artists’ experience and provide them with opportunities to learn from experts in the field. The Artist in Residence programme continues to showcase mesmerizing displays of artistic talent while supporting artists in forging meaningful connections and collaborations.
