The Ministry of Labour has stepped in to address the issue of a private hospital in Bahrain that is facing potential closure due to staff members not receiving their salaries for two months. The hospital, which offers a wide range of medical services, has stopped most of its operations in late August, causing concern about the continuity of patient care. The Ministry of Labour has confirmed that it is monitoring the situation closely and is committed to upholding workers’ rights as per Bahraini law.
Despite assurances from the hospital management that the salary delays will be resolved in the near future, the lack of transparency surrounding the situation has only heightened anxiety among the staff. The hospital has not provided a clear explanation for the sudden service reductions or pay delays, leaving employees and patients uncertain about the future. The lack of communication has led to worries among the staff, with concerns rising about the hospital potentially shutting down.
The hospital employs approximately 190 staff members, including around 50 Bahraini nationals, all of whom have been affected by the ongoing salary issues. One doctor, expressing deep concern about the hospital’s uncertain future, stated, “There doesn’t seem to be any end in sight.” The situation worsened when the hospital abruptly stopped all surgical procedures in late August, leaving only outpatient services available to patients. A nurse who resigned due to increasing pressure disclosed that surgeries were canceled without any explanation.
The Ministry of Labour has dispatched a team to investigate the situation at the hospital and is urging prompt action to address the salary delays and ensure the well-being of the staff. The ministry is enforcing Law No. (36) of 2012, which governs private sector employment in Bahrain, to protect the rights of workers. The intervention comes after employees raised complaints about not receiving their salaries since June, leading some to resign from their positions in frustration.
The lack of transparency and communication from the hospital management has exacerbated the already tense situation, with employees and patients left in the dark about the reasons behind the sudden service reductions and salary delays. The uncertainty surrounding the hospital’s future has left many concerned about its potential closure and the impact it will have on patient care in Bahrain. The Ministry of Labour’s intervention is crucial in ensuring that the rights of the workers are safeguarded and that urgent action is taken to address the ongoing issues at the hospital.
In conclusion, the situation at the private hospital in Bahrain highlights the importance of transparency and communication in addressing workplace issues. The ministry’s intervention is a welcome step in protecting the rights of the employees and ensuring that they receive their salaries in a timely manner. It is crucial for the hospital management to provide clear explanations for the recent developments and take steps to resolve the salary delays promptly. As the situation continues to unfold, it is essential for all stakeholders to work together to address the challenges and ensure the continuity of medical services for the benefit of the staff and patients alike.
