A low-pressure system, previously known as Storm Kirk, has caused significant damage in France, resulting in one fatality. The Isle de France region and the Alpes-Maritimes region experienced severe flooding and record high water levels. The Seine-et-Marne department in the Isle de France region was hit hard by heavy rainfall, leading to flooded homes and blocked roads. A red flood alert remains in place in this region, as further rainfall is expected. Belgium also experienced heavy rainfall, with the Ardennes region receiving the most rain. The town of Couvin activated its communal emergency plan after a flood, as a precautionary measure.

While the worst of the low-pressure system has passed, officials in affected areas are remaining vigilant due to the high water levels that remain. In the Seine-et-Marne department in Isle de France, where the impact was most severe, the red flood alert issued on Thursday is still in place. This alert warns residents of the potential for further rainfall and flooding in the coming days. The town of Couvin in Belgium also remains on high alert after activating their communal emergency plan. Although the damage in Belgium was limited compared to France, officials are monitoring the situation closely due to the high water levels in the Eau Noire river.

The heavy rainfall and flooding caused by the low-pressure system has resulted in one fatality in France, highlighting the severity of the situation. The Isle de France and Alpes-Maritimes regions were particularly hard hit, with severe flooding and record high water levels reported. The Seine-et-Marne department in Isle de France saw the most significant impact, with flooded homes and blocked roads. The red flood alert issued in this region remains in place, as officials anticipate further rainfall and potential flooding in the coming days. In Belgium, the Ardennes region bore the brunt of the rain, with the town of Couvin activating its communal emergency plan as a precautionary measure.

Although Belgium saw limited damage compared to France, officials are taking no chances in monitoring the situation closely. The town of Couvin remains on high alert due to the flood that occurred there and the activation of the communal emergency plan. The Ardennes region in Belgium received the most rain from the low-pressure system, with authorities keeping a close eye on the situation. While the worst of the storm has passed, the risk of further rainfall and flooding remains, requiring continued vigilance from officials in affected areas. The high water levels in the Eau Noire river in France also contribute to the ongoing concern and alertness of local authorities.
