The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai conducted inspections of 209 schools with over 360,000 students this year, including ten schools inspected for the first time. Results showed that 23 schools were rated ‘Outstanding’, 48 ‘Very Good’, 85 ‘Good’, and 51 ‘Acceptable’, with two schools rated ‘Weak’. Overall, 26 schools improved while three saw a decline in their ratings. Additionally, 81% of Dubai students now attend private schools rated ‘Good or higher’, marking an improvement from the previous year.

Furthermore, the results indicated that 90% of schools in Dubai have shown improvements in various quality indicators, with 67% related to student outcomes, 26% to provisions for learners, and 7% to leadership. Progress in student outcomes in Arabic as a first language and Islamic education also improved, with more schools rated ‘Good or higher’ compared to the previous year. In terms of inclusive education, 76% of schools now provide ‘Good or higher’ rated provisions for students of determination, showcasing a commitment to reducing barriers to learning and ensuring equitable access to education.

A notable focus on wellbeing provision was also highlighted, with 83% of schools offering wellbeing provision rated ‘Good or higher’. Aisha Abdulla Miran, Director General of KHDA, commented on the results, praising schools for their continuous improvement and commitment to providing high-quality education opportunities for students. She emphasized that these results affirm Dubai’s position as a world-class education destination, aligning with the leadership’s vision outlined in the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and Dubai Social Agenda 33.

In conclusion, the KHDA inspection results for schools in Dubai reflect a positive trend towards overall improvement in quality indicators, student outcomes, provisions for learners, and leadership. The increased focus on inclusive education, wellbeing provision, and reducing barriers to learning demonstrates a dedication to ensuring equitable access to education for all students. With a significant number of schools achieving ‘Good or higher’ ratings in various areas, Dubai continues to strengthen its position as a leading global education hub, in line with the city’s strategic vision for economic and social development.
