K-pop sensation Seventeen is set to become UNESCO goodwill ambassadors, joining the ranks of other influential figures such as Taylor Swift and Vinicius. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation made the announcement, citing the band’s commitment to empowering young people and addressing global challenges. Their positive energy and music have inspired fans around the world, leading to their success in both album sales and online streams.

Seventeen’s journey to becoming UNESCO ambassadors began in 2015 when the South Korean group was formed. Their hard work paid off as they became the second-highest earners in the music industry last year, following Taylor Swift. Their album “FML” topped charts in 2023, solidifying their status as global superstars. The band’s involvement with UNESCO has been ongoing, with a performance at the organisation’s Paris office in November serving as a prelude to their official appointment on June 26.

The role of UNESCO goodwill ambassadors involves promoting youth-focused projects worldwide, aligning with Seventeen’s mission to empower young people. The band’s dedication to making a positive impact through their music and actions has resonated with fans and the international community. Their partnership with UNESCO will further solidify their commitment to driving change and inspiring the next generation to create a better future.

In a statement, UNESCO director-general Audrey Azoulay expressed the organisation’s excitement to have Seventeen on board as goodwill ambassadors. She highlighted the band’s shared values with UNESCO, emphasizing their passion for empowering youth and fostering positive change. The ceremony to appoint Seventeen as ambassadors will take place at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris, symbolizing the official beginning of their partnership with the organisation.

Seventeen joins a prestigious list of UNESCO goodwill ambassadors, including renowned figures from various fields such as sports, entertainment, and culinary arts. Their diverse backgrounds and areas of expertise contribute to UNESCO’s mission of promoting education, culture, and sustainable development. As ambassadors, Seventeen will have the opportunity to use their platform to raise awareness about important global issues and inspire positive actions among their millions of fans worldwide.

Overall, Seventeen’s appointment as UNESCO goodwill ambassadors represents a significant milestone in their career and a testament to their impact on the international music scene. Their dedication to empowering young people and promoting positive change aligns perfectly with UNESCO’s mission, making them valuable partners in advancing education, culture, and youth initiatives worldwide. As they officially take on their ambassadorial role, Seventeen will continue to inspire and uplift audiences with their music and message of unity and empowerment.
