The Legends Tour will host its first event in India, the India Legends Championship, from 30th August to 1st September 2024, at Jaypee Greens in Delhi. The tournament, co-sanctioned by the PGTI, will feature a prize fund of $500,000 with the participation of top Legends Tour players and 10 Indian golfers, including host Jeev Milkha Singh and Jyoti Randhawa. Milkha Singh expressed his excitement about playing in front of Indian crowds and believes the event will be a boost for Indian golf.

As a Dubai Golden VISA Awardee, Milkha Singh is eager to showcase his skills in India and provide an opportunity for fans to witness high-quality golf. With his experience on the Legends Tour, Milkha Singh is currently ranked 34th on the MCB Road to Mauritius Rankings and has hosted the Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational on the PGTI for several years. The Legends Tour Rankings are currently topped by Scott Hend from Australia, with other notable players in contention.

The India Legends Championship will take place at Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida Golf Course, which is the only Greg Norman-designed course in India. The championship course, opened in 2001, offers a challenging layout spanning 7,347 yards with undulating fairways and 88 bunkers strategically placed around the course. This venue has previously hosted prestigious events such as the Avantha Masters on the DP World Tour and Asian Tour in 2013, showcasing its caliber as a top-notch golf destination.

With the introduction of the India Legends Championship, the country’s golfing scene is set to receive a significant boost. The tournament serves as a platform for both seasoned players like Jeev Milkha Singh and emerging Indian talents to showcase their skills on a global stage. The $500,000 prize fund and participation of renowned golfers from around the world add to the prestige of the event, attracting golf enthusiasts and fans to witness high-quality competition.

The presence of top players like Scott Hend and Peter Baker in the Legends Tour Rankings further enhances the competitive nature of the India Legends Championship. With a strong field of participants and the picturesque setting of Jaypee Greens, the tournament promises to be a memorable experience for players and spectators alike. The rich history of the Legends Tour coupled with the hospitality of India creates a perfect blend for a successful and exciting golfing event.

In conclusion, the India Legends Championship hosted by Jeev Milkha Singh represents a landmark event in Indian golf, bringing together top players from around the world to compete on a prestigious platform. The tournament’s inaugural edition at Jaypee Greens promises to showcase the talent and passion for golf in India while providing a unique opportunity for fans to witness their favorite players in action. With the support of the Legends Tour and PGTI, the India Legends Championship is poised to make a significant impact on the golfing landscape of the country and contribute to its growth and development in the sport.
