The Japanese national team got off to a strong start in the third phase of Asia’s World Cup qualifiers with a dominant 7-0 victory over China. Japan’s Wataru Endo and Kaoru Mitoma scored in the first half to give their team a comfortable lead, with Takumi Minamino adding a brace in the second half. Junya Ito, Daizen Maeda, and Takefusa Kubo also contributed to the scoreline as China was outplayed throughout the match.

Japan has often been slow to start in previous qualifiers, but they displayed a strong performance against China. Endo opened the scoring with a clinical header in the 12th minute, taking advantage of a corner kick. Mitoma extended Japan’s lead before halftime with a well-placed header. In the second half, Minamino scored two goals, while Ito and Maeda also found the back of the net to seal the victory.

The top two teams in the group, which includes Australia, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Bahrain, will secure automatic berths in the World Cup, while the third and fourth-placed teams will have to participate in further qualifiers. Asia has been allocated eight guaranteed spots in the 2026 World Cup, with a chance for an additional place through an intercontinental playoff.

Japan’s impressive performance against China highlights their strength and determination to secure a spot in the upcoming World Cup. The team’s attacking prowess and clinical finishing were on full display, with multiple players contributing to the goal tally. Japan’s strong start in the qualifiers bodes well for their chances of advancing to the World Cup and possibly making a deep run in the tournament.

The victory over China also sends a strong message to the other teams in the group, showcasing Japan’s quality and ability to compete at the highest level. With key players stepping up and delivering impactful performances, Japan looks poised to navigate through the qualifiers successfully. The team’s solid defense and potent attack make them a formidable opponent for any team in the competition.

As Japan looks ahead to the remainder of the qualifiers, they will aim to maintain their winning momentum and secure a top finish in the group. The team’s depth and talent across all positions give them a significant advantage in the race for a World Cup berth. With a blend of experience and youth in the squad, Japan has the potential to make a strong impact on the global stage in 2026.

Overall, Japan’s resounding victory over China in the World Cup qualifiers sets a positive tone for their campaign and reaffirms their status as a top contender in Asian football. With a combination of skill, determination, and team chemistry, Japan looks well-positioned to achieve their goal of reaching the World Cup and competing against the best teams in the world.
