Lebanon is currently in mourning following the killing of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in Israeli air strikes. The Israeli military has continued to bombard Beirut, with the death toll rising to 33 people across the country on Saturday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has declared that Israel has “settled the score” with Nasrallah’s death, referring to it as a “historic turning point.” In response to the air strikes, Israel has deployed troops near the border with Lebanon, with plans for a possible ground operation in the near future.

The Israeli military has released footage of strikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, which they claim were aimed at defensive installations and weapons storage facilities. The ongoing conflict has led to hundreds of displaced families seeking shelter in public spaces in Beirut. Many families have been forced to sleep in public squares, on beaches, or in their cars due to the Israeli aerial assault. The situation has caused great fear and uncertainty among the displaced families, with many expressing a need for a safe place for their children.

The escalating violence has resulted in more than 700 casualties in Lebanon, with several multi-story buildings being destroyed in the recent barrage of strikes. Across the border, in Israel, residents of Tel Aviv have been forced to take shelter as sirens sounded throughout the city. The Israeli military intercepted a missile launched from Yemen, with no reports of injuries. There are concerns about the safety of Prime Minister Netanyahu, who cut short a visit to the US to return to Israel amidst the escalating conflict.

In response to the ongoing conflict, the Lebanese government has declared three days of mourning following Nasrallah’s death. The Israeli air strikes have led to a significant loss of life in Lebanon, with hundreds of families displaced and seeking shelter in public spaces. The Israeli military has continued to target Hezbollah installations in southern Lebanon, leading to further destruction and casualties. The situation remains tense, with the possibility of a ground operation looming as Israel deploys troops near the border with Lebanon.

The conflict between Israel and Lebanon has resulted in a humanitarian crisis, with displaced families facing uncertainty and fear as the violence escalates. The ongoing bombardment of Beirut has left many seeking refuge in public spaces, with a lack of basic necessities such as shelter and safety. The international community has expressed concerns about the situation, with calls for a ceasefire and humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict. The need for a peaceful resolution to the crisis is paramount, with hopes for an end to the violence and a return to stability in the region.
