Makkah Deputy Emir Prince Saud bin Mishaal recently met with Fahad Al-Saif, the chairman of Emaar, The Economic City, to discuss the latest developments in King Abdullah Economic City. Al-Saif highlighted the impressive growth of the city, with investments totaling SR18 billion. The meeting focused on the progress made in the industrial and logistics sectors, particularly at King Abdullah Port, which is the second largest container handling port in Saudi Arabia.

The industrial valley adjacent to the port has attracted 120 national and international companies, contributing to the city’s overall economic prosperity. Additionally, the Special Economic Zone in KAEC, the largest in Saudi Arabia, was also discussed, with a focus on the automotive and logistics industries. The deputy emir was updated on the city’s strategic vision for tourism and entertainment, which includes plans for more than 30 projects in this sector.

Al-Saif provided updates on key infrastructure projects in the city, including the completion of the natural gas delivery project and the water desalination plant. Other recent developments include the opening of Al-Habib Hospital, a government kindergarten, an automobile academy, a global academy, and an expansion of Prince Mohammed bin Salman College. The Rixos Emerald Shores Resort Project is set to open in 2025, offering 540 hotel rooms, 36 villas, and a water park.

King Abdullah Economic City continues to be a hub for various cultural, economic, social, sports, and artistic events and activities. The city’s focus on attracting investments and fostering economic growth is evident in the diverse range of industries and sectors that have set up operations in the city. With a strong strategic vision for the future, KAEC is poised to further enhance its position as a key economic and tourism destination in Saudi Arabia.
