The initiative is part of a larger project to plant and distribute 60,000 wild trees this year. The head of the Natural Reserves Department, Hatem bin Salem Al Mahri, highlighted that the campaign will include planting 500 frankincense trees in Raysut and 9,500 wild trees in Rakhyut, including species such as Wild fig, aloe vera, and sidr. In collaboration with the Municipality of Dhofar and other public, private, and civil sector institutions, the Environment Authority is implementing this tree planting campaign as part of its ongoing efforts to protect local plants and natural resources. The planting of 10,000 wild trees is just one component of a larger project aimed at increasing vegetation cover and supporting the national initiative to plant 10 million trees. By engaging various stakeholders in this initiative, the Environment Authority is fostering a culture of environmental awareness and stewardship in Dhofar Governorate.
