The Indian T20 World Cup-winning team received a heroes’ welcome upon their return home, with euphoric fans at Delhi airport before meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The team, delayed by Hurricane Beryl, danced to drums and live music before heading to Modi’s residence. Modi posed for a photograph with the team and had a chat with the players before they left for Mumbai for a victory parade. Despite monsoon rain, crowds gathered to welcome the team and celebrate their victory over South Africa in the final.

Fans were emotional and ecstatic to see their idols, with many expressing their excitement to see the World Cup-winning team return home. Vice-captain Hardik Pandya and captain Rohit Sharma emerged first, with star batsman Virat Kohli receiving some of the loudest cheers as he waved to fans. The win marked the end of India’s 11-year global cricket trophy drought, following their 2013 Champions Trophy win. The last World Cup victory for India was in the 2011 50-over edition under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

One fan held up a poster thanking coach Rahul Dravid, who was celebrated during the post-match celebrations. Dravid, along with Rohit, Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, announced their retirement from T20 international cricket after the final. The special Air India charter carrying the team back from the Caribbean was the most tracked flight for much of the last 15 hours, with excited fans following their journey.

The celebratory atmosphere continued as the team headed to Mumbai for a victory parade and event at the Wankhede Stadium, the heart of India’s financial capital. The World Cup victory was a momentous occasion for Indian cricket fans, who had been eagerly awaiting a win after a long drought. The team’s success in the final marked a historic moment in Indian cricket history and gave fans a reason to celebrate.

Overall, the return of the Indian T20 World Cup-winning team was a joyous occasion marked by celebrations, fanfare, and moments that will be treasured by players and supporters alike. The team’s victory brought pride to the nation and renewed enthusiasm for the sport of cricket in India. With the support of their loyal fans and the recognition of their achievements by the Prime Minister, the players were able to bask in the glory of their well-deserved win.
