The Sultanate of Oman warmly welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, marking the beginning of a significant two-day official visit aimed at strengthening the historical ties between the two nations. This trip underscores the growing strategic partnership between India and Oman, with discussions expected to cover a wide range of bilateral issues, including trade, investment, and regional security. Prime Minister Modi Arrives in Muscat for Official Visit

Prime Minister Modi’s official visit to Muscat commenced with a grand reception at Muscat International Airport. He was greeted by His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, the Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, who led a distinguished welcoming party. Upon arrival, HH Sayyid Shihab extended a formal welcome to Prime Minister Modi and his delegation, expressing wishes for a successful and productive visit. A key moment in the ceremony was the playing of the Indian national anthem, a symbol of honour and recognition. Following the anthem, Prime Minister Modi engaged with members of the Omani delegation, shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries. This initial interaction set a positive tone for the forthcoming discussions.

Among those present were Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister; Sayyid Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, the Governor of Muscat; Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, who also heads the Mission of Honour; and Issa bin Saleh Al Shaibani, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of India. Representatives from the Sultan’s Armed Forces and the Indian Embassy were also in attendance.

HH Sayyid Shihab also took the opportunity to greet the official Indian delegation accompanying the Prime Minister, demonstrating Omani hospitality and respect. This included a ceremonial accompaniment through a guard of honour formed by the Royal Oman Police (ROP), further emphasizing the importance of the visit and the strength of India-Oman relations.

Prime Minister Modi is not traveling alone; he is accompanied by a powerful and influential delegation comprised of key figures from the Indian government.
