A heartwarming story of community support and diplomatic assistance has culminated in the safe return of a Kerala native from Bahrain. This story highlights the crucial role of Bahrain repatriation efforts in assisting vulnerable individuals abroad.

Successful Bahrain Repatriation: A Story of Compassion

The journey home wasn’t straightforward. The man, originally from Trikkaripur, Kasaragod, Kerala, arrived in Bahrain three years ago hoping to secure employment. Unfortunately, difficulties arose in converting his visit visa into a work permit. Just as he was preparing to return to India, his health took a turn for the worse, requiring intensive care.

Health Crisis and Initial Support

His respiratory illness rapidly deteriorated, leading to a prolonged stay in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Salmaniya Hospital, followed by continued treatment in a general ward. Thankfully, he wasn’t alone. A friend, identified as Raheem, provided initial support and recognized the gravity of the situation.

Raheem’s quick thinking proved vital. He contacted K.T. Salim, the head of ICRF Hospital Affairs and Chairman of BDK Bahrain, initiating a chain of events that would ultimately lead to the man’s safe return. Salim, in turn, reached out to the patient’s family in Kerala.

The Role of Indian Community Organizations

The family promptly submitted a formal application for assistance, and the Indian Embassy in Bahrain swiftly stepped in to facilitate the repatriation process. Several organizations played a pivotal role in providing support throughout this challenging period.

  • ICRF (Indian Community Relief Fund): Provided crucial hospital liaison and logistical support.
  • Hope Bahrain: Representatives Shaji Muthala, Faisal Pattandi, Sabu Chirammal, and Shaji Ilambilayi offered hands-on assistance both within the hospital and during the complex repatriation arrangements.
  • BDK (Blood Donors Kerala): Leveraged their network and resources to aid in the overall effort.

These organizations exemplify the strong sense of community and mutual support prevalent amongst the Indian diaspora in Bahrain. Their dedication to assisting fellow nationals in need is truly commendable.

Coordinating the Journey Home: A Seamless Transfer

The repatriation wasn’t simply a matter of booking a flight. It required careful coordination to ensure the patient received continuous care throughout the journey. Recognizing the need for a smooth transition, Hope Bahrain representatives worked tirelessly to arrange specialized transport in India.

NORKA Assistance and Ambulance Support

Through the NORKA Help Desk at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam, a NORKA ambulance was secured from Kozhikode Airport. This ambulance transported the patient directly to Payyanur Government Hospital, located near his hometown in Trikkaripur. This ensured immediate medical attention upon arrival and minimized any potential discomfort during the final leg of his journey. This demonstrates the effectiveness of NORKA support for Keralites abroad.

The meticulous planning and execution of this transfer highlight the commitment of all involved parties to prioritize the patient’s well-being. It’s a testament to the power of collaboration between diplomatic missions, community organizations, and support networks.

The Importance of Community Support and Diplomatic Intervention

This case underscores the vital role played by the Indian Embassy in Bahrain and the numerous community organizations in safeguarding the welfare of Indian citizens residing in the country. Indian Embassy Bahrain consistently provides assistance in various situations, including medical emergencies, legal issues, and repatriation requests.

Furthermore, it highlights the importance of having a strong support network when living and working abroad. The swift response from Raheem, and the subsequent involvement of ICRF, Hope Bahrain, and BDK, were instrumental in securing the necessary assistance. The availability of resources like NORKA also proved invaluable in ensuring a safe and comfortable journey home.

In conclusion, this successful Bahrain repatriation is a powerful reminder of the compassion and dedication that exists within the Indian community in Bahrain. It’s a story of hope, resilience, and the unwavering commitment to helping those in need. If you or someone you know requires assistance while in Bahrain, reaching out to the Indian Embassy or one of the many community organizations is a crucial first step.
