Indian Club’s Onam Festival a Huge Success

The Onam Festival 2024 at The Indian Club in Bahrain reached its peak with a captivating performance by renowned playback singer and folk specialist Mrs. Praseetha Chalakudy on October 3. The event was attended by a full house of enthusiastic music lovers, who were entertained by traditional Nadan Pattukal (folk songs) and dynamic performances by Sahridaya Payyanur Bahrain. The fifth day of the festival featured a Ghoshayatra Competition, where five teams showcased their creativity and teamwork. Our Clicks emerged as the winners, followed by Shrestha in second place and Voice of Trivandrum in third place.

Individual awards were also given out, with Our Clicks receiving Best Float and Best Mahaweli, Shrestha winning Best Character, Voice of Trivandrum being awarded Best Performer, and Our Clicks claiming Best Theme. A Special Jury Award was presented to Our Clicks for their outstanding contribution to the event. The festival will wrap up with the traditional Onam feast, known as Onasadhya, on October 11, 2024. Over 2,500 guests will be served 30 delectable dishes prepared by celebrity sadhya specialist Mr. Jayan Sukumara Pillai, all served on traditional banana leaves.

The President and Executive Committee of the Indian Club expressed their gratitude to all sponsors, with special acknowledgment given to major sponsors such as Megamart, African Eastern, BQ Fresh, Mrs. Naina Mohammed, and First & Best Constructions for their support in making the festival a success. The Onam Festival at The Indian Club in Bahrain has been a celebration of traditional music, dance, and cuisine, bringing the community together to honor the rich cultural heritage of India. With performances by top artists, a spirited competition, and a grand feast to look forward to, the festival has been a highlight of the social calendar in Bahrain for both residents and visitors alike.

Attendees at the festival were treated to a diverse range of performances, including traditional Nadan Pattukal (folk songs) by Mrs. Praseetha Chalakudy and energetic routines by Sahridaya Payyanur Bahrain. The Ghoshayatra Competition on the fifth day showcased the participants’ creativity and teamwork, with Our Clicks emerging as the victors. The individual awards recognized outstanding contributions in various categories, with Our Clicks, Shrestha, and Voice of Trivandrum all receiving accolades for their performances.

The upcoming Onasadhya feast promises to be a grand affair, with Mr. Jayan Sukumara Pillai preparing 30 mouth-watering dishes to be served on banana leaves to over 2,500 guests. The festival has been made possible by the generous support of sponsors such as Megamart, African Eastern, BQ Fresh, Mrs. Naina Mohammed, and First & Best Constructions. Their contributions have ensured the success of the event and have helped to promote Indian culture and traditions in Bahrain.
