Housing Minister Amna Al Rumaihi has vowed to review the Mazaya programme to alleviate the burden on over 13,000 beneficiaries seeking to own a home without additional strain. In a private meeting with MPs, Al Rumaihi discussed potential changes to the programme to ensure beneficiaries can make payments while maintaining a decent standard of living. She assured that the terms of Mazaya are being reevaluated taking into account the concerns of the MPs.

Furthermore, Al Rumaihi provided an update on the ‘Land and Loan’ scheme, revealing that there has been a steady interest from applicants and that land and loan allocations are expected to be finalized by February 2025. The meeting, convened by First Deputy Speaker Abdulnabi Salman, was focused on housing plans throughout the kingdom, particularly in the Sixth District of the Northern Governorate.

Several new developments were outlined by Al Rumaihi, including the East Sitra Housing Project and additional housing in Madinat Salman. Salman emphasized the importance of improving housing services and decreasing waiting times in light of discussions during the previous Parliament session. The Mazaya programme remains a central focus, with Al Rumaihi agreeing on the need for a fresh approach to ensure equity for existing beneficiaries and pave the way for future applicants.
