Bassem Abu Idris, a member of the Northern Municipal Council, is calling for urgent meetings between municipal council members and MPs to address pressing infrastructure needs in the Northern Governorate. He highlighted the importance of increasing the budget allocated for essential services in the region, noting that current delays in approvals are hindering efforts to serve the nation and its citizens effectively. The Northern Governorate, with its large constituency numbers and population density, requires a budget increase to meet the aspirations and requirements of the community, especially with urban expansion and dilapidated housing posing risks such as fires and damage during the rainy season.

Abu Idris emphasized the need for cooperation between municipal council members and MPs, stating that there is willingness to collaborate. He dispelled the notion that there is a lack of coordination between the two bodies, asserting that cooperation does exist. He stressed the importance of creative solutions to address the challenges faced by the region, rather than solely blaming executive bodies for the delays in implementing projects and proposals. Feedback gathered from council members will be presented to the Council of Representatives to highlight the urgency of resolving stalled issues in the Northern Governorate.

The current budget for services in the Northern area is deemed insufficient to meet the needs of the community, as highlighted by Abu Idris. He called on representatives in the Council of Representatives to advocate for an increased budget for the Northern Municipal Council, which would enable better services and more efficient efforts to benefit the region. Abu Idris also mentioned the cooperation shown by Parliament’s Deputy Speaker in previous meetings, indicating a willingness to work together to address the infrastructure needs and challenges faced by the Northern Governorate. With ongoing urban expansion and the prevalence of dilapidated housing, it is imperative to allocate more resources to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in the region.

In a conversation with The Daily Tribune, Abu Idris underscored the importance of finding solutions to the issues at hand, rather than assigning blame. He acknowledged the challenges that both municipal council members and MPs are facing and stressed the need for a collaborative approach to address these challenges effectively. By presenting feedback from council members to the Council of Representatives, Abu Idris aims to shed light on the urgent need for increased budget allocation and expedited implementation of projects and proposals in the Northern Governorate.

Abu Idris’s call for urgent meetings between municipal council members and MPs reflects a proactive approach to addressing the pressing infrastructure needs in the Northern Governorate. By advocating for an increased budget for essential services in the region, he aims to ensure that the community’s needs are met effectively. The cooperation shown by Parliament’s Deputy Speaker and the willingness of both municipal council members and MPs to work together bode well for the future of the Northern Governorate. With a focus on finding creative solutions and fostering collaboration, Abu Idris and his colleagues are working towards resolving the stalled issues and improving the overall well-being of the community in the Northern Governorate.
