The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi) has introduced its Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes, focusing on Energy Engineering and Computer Science. The Energy Engineering programme aims to address challenges in energy production and management, while the Computer Science programme focuses on AI and machine learning to equip students with problem-solving skills. There are 60 seats available, with each programme offering 30 seats. Admissions will be through the Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET) 2024 and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE–Advanced) 2024.

The BTech programmes at IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi aim to prepare students to tackle energy challenges, contribute to the digital age, and develop software solutions for various industries. Registration for the academic year 2024-2025 is open until 3 June 2024, with classes starting in September 2024. The master’s programme in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS) was launched in January 2024, preceding the undergraduate programmes. The four-year BTech programme will be delivered by local experts and seconded faculty from IIT Delhi, focusing on sustainable energy, climate studies, computing, and data sciences.

Upon graduation, students at IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi will join an alumni network of graduates from 23 campuses across India. The campus was established through a partnership between the Ministry of Education, India, IIT Delhi, and ADEK in July 2023. Dr. Ahmed Sultan Alshoaibi, from ADEK, highlighted the importance of technology and engineering in shaping the future economy and solving complex challenges, aiming to equip the future workforce with essential skills. Professor Rangan Banerjee, Director at IIT Delhi, emphasized the quality of academic programmes coupled with a supportive campus environment to foster students’ growth and prepare them for leadership roles in areas like AI, digitalization, and sustainable energy.

In conclusion, the launch of the BTech programmes at IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi marks a significant step towards providing quality education in engineering and technology. The programmes aim to equip students with the necessary skills to address current challenges, drive innovation, and contribute to the development of sustainable solutions. The rigorous academic curriculum, combined with research opportunities and industry exposure, will prepare graduates to excel in their chosen fields and make a positive impact on society. By fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, IIT Delhi – Abu Dhabi is poised to become a leading institution for engineering education in the region and beyond.
