Casa Arabe, an institution established in Madrid and Cordoba in 2006, is dedicated to bridging the gap between Arab and Spanish cultures through various initiatives such as training programs, collaborations with Arab cultural institutions, and hosting cultural events. The organization recently won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for its efforts in promoting intercultural dialogue. Irene Lozano Domingo, the director of Casa Arabe, emphasized the importance of mutual knowledge and understanding between societies, especially in the context of the ‘Clash of Civilizations’ theory.

In response to the changing demographics in Spain, Casa Arabe has shifted its focus to fostering intercultural dialogue within Spain itself, particularly with the expanding Arab population in the country. The institution now aims to reach out to the 1.5 million Arabs and Spanish people with Arab backgrounds living in Spain. Casa Arabe also plays a significant role in teaching the Arabic language, with around 400 students attending Arabic courses each term. The institution recognizes the strong influence of the Arabic language on Spanish and aims to preserve this linguistic heritage.

Irene Lozano Domingo highlighted the beauty and richness of the Arabic language, acknowledging its historical influence on Spanish vocabulary. She emphasized the importance of maintaining cultural ties between Spain and the Arab world, noting the mutual benefits and opportunities that come from close cultural connections. Casa Arabe serves as a meeting point for fostering friendship and mutual knowledge between Spain and the Arab world, showcasing the importance of Spanish culture and influence globally.

As part of its efforts to expand its reach and collaborations, Casa Arabe is working closely with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre on new initiatives. This partnership aims to strengthen cultural ties between Spain and the Arab world through joint events and programs. By promoting cross-cultural exchange and understanding, Casa Arabe continues to play a vital role in enhancing relations between Arab and Spanish societies, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and interconnected global community.
