Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Engineering and Health Facilities Department is offering a nine-week summer training program for final-year engineering students from the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) in Qatar. The program, which started on May 12 and will continue until July 28, 2024, is geared towards students majoring in mechanical and electrical engineering. Throughout the training, students will be stationed at various HMC facilities, such as Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City, Hamad General Hospital, and Rumailah Hospital, where they will work under the mentorship of experienced engineers to gain hands-on experience on ongoing projects.

The summer training program aims to provide participating students with a comprehensive understanding of the importance and role of engineering professions within healthcare facilities. By working closely with skilled engineers at HMC, students will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios, gaining valuable insights into the application of engineering principles in real-world settings. Through this immersive experience, students will not only enhance their technical skills but also develop a deeper appreciation for the critical role that engineering plays in the healthcare industry.

In addition to gaining practical experience, students enrolled in the program will also benefit from weekly seminars that offer an overview of the various departments within the Engineering and Health Facilities Department at HMC. These seminars will provide students with insights into the diverse responsibilities of each department, as well as an understanding of the scope of work carried out within the corporation. By attending these informative sessions, students will have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and gain a holistic understanding of the engineering and healthcare facilities sector.

The nine-week summer training program at HMC represents a unique opportunity for final-year engineering students to immerse themselves in the world of healthcare engineering. Through a combination of hands-on experience, mentorship from experienced professionals, and informative seminars, students will be able to gain valuable skills and insights that will prepare them for a successful career in the field of engineering. By participating in this program, students will have the chance to not only enhance their technical abilities but also to develop a deeper understanding of the crucial role that engineering plays in creating and maintaining efficient healthcare facilities.

As part of the training program, students will have the opportunity to work on ongoing projects at HMC facilities, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. By collaborating with experienced engineers, students will gain valuable insights into the complexities of healthcare engineering, learning how to navigate challenges and solve problems in real-time. Through this hands-on experience, students will develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deeper appreciation for the impact that engineering has on the healthcare industry.

Overall, the summer training program at HMC is designed to provide final-year engineering students with a comprehensive and immersive learning experience in the field of healthcare engineering. By combining practical training, mentorship, and informative seminars, the program aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their future careers. Through this program, students will not only gain valuable hands-on experience but also develop a deeper appreciation for the vital role that engineering plays in supporting healthcare facilities and improving patient care.
