The Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Center for Organ Transplantation recently participated in the 30th International Congress of The Transplantation Society (TTS 2024) in Istanbul, Türkiye, showcasing Qatar’s organ donation and transplantation programs. HMC highlighted Qatar’s leadership in this field, as well as the Doha International Center for Strategy and Leadership in Transplantation, a new initiative collaborating with the WHO to address global challenges in transplantation. This participation at the event helped solidify HMC’s reputation as a distinguished healthcare facility both locally and internationally.

Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani, Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Clinical Affairs and Director of Qatar Center for Organ Transplantation, highlighted the international standard facilities, experts, and a unified organ waiting list that have enhanced Qatar’s Organ Transplant Program. He mentioned that HMC offers kidney, liver, and lung transplant surgeries, making it one of the most comprehensive transplant centers in the region. Since the program started in 1986, it has expanded and strengthened the exceptional care for patients, with a multidisciplinary team including leading international experts providing the highest level of care.

Dr. Riadh Fadhil, Director of the Qatar Organ Donation Center and Transplantation Society Councilor for the Middle East, West, and Central Asia, stated that Qatar is recognized as a regional leader in both organ donation and transplantation. The country’s efforts in this field have been acknowledged internationally, showcasing its commitment to providing exceptional care to patients in need of organ transplants. With a focus on collaboration and innovation, Qatar has made significant strides in advancing organ transplantation programs and raising awareness about the importance of organ donation.

Participating in international events like the TTS Congress allows Qatar to share its experiences and best practices with other experts in the field of organ donation and transplantation. This exchange of knowledge and expertise is crucial for continuous improvement and advancement in healthcare services. By showcasing its achievements and initiatives on a global platform, Qatar demonstrates its dedication to enhancing healthcare standards and addressing critical issues in organ transplantation.

The Doha International Center for Strategy and Leadership in Transplantation, a Qatar-led initiative collaborating with the WHO, plays a vital role in addressing worldwide challenges in organ transplantation. This partnership signifies Qatar’s commitment to global health initiatives and its efforts to contribute to improving healthcare systems on an international scale. By working together with leading organizations like the WHO, Qatar can leverage its expertise and resources to make a meaningful impact in the field of organ donation and transplantation.

Overall, Qatar’s presence at the TTS Congress highlighted its significant contributions to organ donation and transplantation programs, showcasing its leadership and commitment to providing exceptional care to patients in need of organ transplants. With state-of-the-art facilities, expert medical professionals, and a strong focus on collaboration and innovation, Qatar continues to set a high standard in the field of organ transplantation.
