Highest-Rated Indian Chess Player Maintains Perfect Score at Dubai Open Chess Tournament

The 24th Dubai Open Chess Tournament is currently underway at the Dubai Chess and Culture Club, with India’s highest-rated International Master (IM) Aronyak Ghosh taking the lead after securing his second straight win in the second round. In a game against Egyptian prodigy IM Kevin George Micheal, Ghosh employed a rare strategy with the black queen, ultimately leading to his victory on the 33rd move. Meanwhile, Fide Master (FM) Erik Hakobyan of Armenia also moved up to two points after a default win over Azerbaijani top-seed GM Teimour Radjabov.

As of press time, GM Raunak Sadhwani and GM Eltaj Safarli were in the midst of their respective matches against compatriot IM V S Rathanvel and IM Oliver Dimakiling. The tournament will resume with the third round on Monday from 5 pm at the Dubai Chess and Culture Club. With several exciting matchups and talented players in the field, the competition is expected to intensify in the coming rounds.

Ghosh’s victory in the second round has solidified his position at the top of the leaderboard, showcasing his strategic prowess and determination in the game of chess. The young Indian player’s performance in this tournament has been impressive, especially considering the caliber of opponents he has faced so far.
