Norwegian striker Erling Haaland was the star of the show as Manchester City secured a convincing 4-1 victory over West Ham in the English Premier League match on January 4, 2025. The game took place at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, north-west England, and saw Haaland find the back of the net twice. This impressive performance from Haaland helped Manchester City continue their winning streak after defeating Leicester in the previous week.

The match got off to a quick start with City taking the lead in the 10th minute when Vladimir Coufal deflected Savinho’s cross into the net past West Ham goalkeeper Alphonse Areola. Haaland extended City’s lead just before half-time with a well-placed header after a superb cross from Savinho. The duo combined once again in the 55th minute, with Haaland scoring his second goal of the game. Phil Foden joined in on the action to make it 4-0 for City, with West Ham only managing to score a consolation goal through Niclas Fuellkrug.

Haaland’s performance was praised by fans and pundits alike, with the young striker showing his prowess in front of goal. His partnership with Savinho proved to be instrumental in City’s victory, as the duo combined brilliantly to create multiple scoring opportunities. The win was a morale boost for City after a difficult period, with the team now looking to build on their recent success and climb up the Premier League standings.

Meanwhile, Chelsea continued to struggle as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace, extending their winless run to four games over the festive period. The draw was a disappointing result for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who are currently facing a challenging period in the season. Despite their recent struggles, Chelsea remain in contention for the title race, but will need to improve their form in the coming weeks to stay competitive.

On the other hand, Newcastle pulled off a surprise victory over Tottenham, inflicting another defeat on the struggling London side. The defeat added to Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou’s woes, with the team struggling to find consistency in the league. Newcastle’s impressive performance highlighted their potential to cause upsets in the Premier League, with the team looking to build on their recent success and climb up the table.

Overall, the match between Manchester City and West Ham showcased the attacking prowess of City, with Haaland stealing the show with his clinical finishing. The win was a statement of intent from City as they look to challenge for the Premier League title this season. With key players like Haaland and Savinho in top form, City will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming weeks. As for West Ham, the team will need to regroup and work on shoring up their defense to prevent further heavy defeats in the league.
