The University of Nizwa in Oman has continued to solidify its place among the top academic institutions globally, maintaining its distinguished position in the QS World University Rankings. Despite facing increasing competition in the educational landscape, the university has shown remarkable progress since its initial inclusion in 2016 when only 120 institutions were ranked. By 2025, the number had risen to 246, showcasing the University of Nizwa’s growing competitiveness.

This significant achievement is a result of the unwavering support and strategic vision of the nation, as well as the university’s relentless efforts to advance research and academics. Key areas such as academic reputation, innovative research, groundbreaking discoveries, publications, and citations per paper have all contributed to the university’s elevated status on the global stage. Among the seven Omani universities featured in the QS rankings, the University of Nizwa proudly holds the second position overall and leads among private institutions, solidifying its reputation as a top academic institution in the region.

Dr. Waleed Al Rajhi, the Dean of the Deanship of Planning and Quality Management, expressed deep pride in the university’s achievement, attributing it to the tireless dedication of the entire university community. He stated, “We are honoured to announce that the University of Nizwa has been ranked as the top private higher education institution in Oman and second among all academic institutions nationwide. This recognition underscores our competitiveness within the region and our resilience in the face of challenges.” Dr. Al Rajhi also commended the efforts of students, faculty, and staff for their essential contributions to the university’s ongoing success, especially during challenging times such as the recent global pandemic.

This milestone, as emphasized by Dr. Al Rajhi, reflects the university’s collective commitment to innovation, academic excellence, and adaptability. Such dedication has enabled the University of Nizwa to compete with and stand alongside top institutions across the Arab region, solidifying its role as a beacon of academic and research excellence. The university’s continuous efforts to enhance its research capabilities and academic offerings have further strengthened its position in the highly competitive academic landscape.

The University of Nizwa’s success in the QS World University Rankings serves as a testament to its commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. The university’s strategic vision, unwavering support from the nation, and the dedication of its faculty, staff, and students have all played a crucial role in its rise to prominence in the global academic arena. By prioritizing innovation, academic rigour, and adaptability, the University of Nizwa has successfully positioned itself as a leading academic institution, not only in Oman but also in the broader Arab region.

As the University of Nizwa continues to make strides in research, academic excellence, and global recognition, it is well poised to further solidify its position among the top institutions worldwide. The university’s focus on innovation, research collaborations, and academic advancements will undoubtedly continue to drive its success and elevate its reputation in the academic community. With ongoing support and dedication from all stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and the nation, the University of Nizwa is set to achieve even greater heights in the years to come.
