Travel consultants have revealed that creating a travel experience that meets the expectations of UAE-based luxury travelers is more important than the price. According to a recent survey, more than 60% of luxury travelers in the country are increasingly looking for exclusivity. The outcomes of a study conducted by Virtuoso in collaboration with YouGov highlighted that 55% of travelers across markets, including the UAE, prioritize a customized travel experience over cost. Specifically, in the UAE, 61% of people prioritize exclusivity in their travel experiences, while in neighboring Saudi Arabia, 62% of travelers desire the same.
Additionally, high-net-worth travelers are also seeking cultural enrichment, adventure, and expedition travel experiences. A trend that is becoming more prominent is the growing desire for unique and tailored experiences that go beyond the usual offerings. Affluent travelers from the UAE desire distinctive experiences such as luxury resort stays, high-end hotels with personalized services, and exploring niche destinations off the beaten path. They also seek cultural immersion, wellness retreats, and unique experiences that cater to their well-being.
Dubai’s success as a tourist hotspot can be attributed to its top-notch infrastructure catering to citizens, residents, and tourists. The city has dedicated years to nurturing innovative thinking, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. As a result, Dubai has seen a significant growth in tourism, welcoming 5.18 million international overnight visitors from January to March 2024. The city was also named the second safest city in the world in 2023, which increases its attractiveness to tourists. The UAE’s tourism industry is predicted to account for 12% of the country’s gross domestic product in 2024, with luxury experiential travel being a key segment contributing significantly to tourism performance.
It is evident that travelers visiting the UAE have high expectations and always expect a service level higher than any other country. Service providers receive requests for unique and customized services, such as changing a bedroom to an office, arranging a private jet, or changing a mattress to suit the guest’s preferences. It is crucial for custodians of the Dubai brand to ensure that every guest is ‘wowed’ and provided with exceptional experiences that exceed their expectations. Overall, the focus on providing value, customizing experiences, and offering unique and tailored services are key factors shaping the preferences of luxury travelers in the UAE.
