Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi is currently hosting a free-to-attend reading programme filled with a variety of activities for people to enjoy. This programme, coinciding with the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024, is being held at Mamsha Al Saadiyat and will run for seven days until May 9. Organized by Miral, a leading creator of immersive destinations and experiences in Abu Dhabi, the programme is open to all ages and does not require prior registration.
The programme, titled ‘Miral’s Reading Experience’, will feature a book signing by six-year-old Emirati author Alfai Al Marzooqi, who holds a Guinness World Records title as the youngest female author to publish a book. Additionally, there will be a book donation drive to ensure that everyone has access to books while promoting sustainable practices. Taghrid AlSaeed, Miral’s executive director of group communications and destination marketing, emphasized the initiative’s goal to cultivate an inclusive community culture through literature.
Immersive literary workshops will be offered at the event, including storytelling, writing, art, calligraphy, Arabic name-writing, and a sustainable slime workshop for children by Hamad Al Marzooqi, Alfai’s four-year-old brother. Visitors can also participate in activities such as hangman, connect the dots, ‘carrom’ tabletop board game, spelling bee contests, storytelling with puppets, and local tales reading, Al Khararif.
