Etihad has recently announced that customers can now travel to five new destinations in Malaysia, including Johor Bahru, Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, and Tawau. The UAE’s national airline will be codesharing with Batik Air Malaysia, offering passengers the opportunity to connect to Hanoi and Da Nang in Vietnam, as well as Perth in Australia. Travellers can access these locations via Batik’s hub at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), which is conveniently served by twice-daily Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi. Passengers can now access the combined services of both carriers on a single ticket, with the added benefit of having their luggage transferred to their final destination. The new routes are set to begin operations on July 16, 2024.

With this new agreement, both inbound and outbound Malaysia passengers will have a wider choice of flights on the combined networks of Etihad and Batik Air Malaysia. Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad, expressed excitement about welcoming customers from Asia to Abu Dhabi and providing them with the renowned hospitality of the airline. He also mentioned that passengers connecting through Abu Dhabi will have access to Etihad’s growing global network in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, Chief Executive Officer of Batik Air Malaysia, highlighted the goal of establishing Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) as a transit hub, which will further enhance connectivity for Etihad passengers and offer a more comprehensive and convenient travel experience.

The aim of this partnership is to expand flight choices for Malaysian travellers, providing them with enhanced travel options to discover new international destinations beyond Abu Dhabi. With Batik Air Malaysia’s network combined with Etihad’s global reach, passengers will have access to a wider range of destinations in Malaysia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and beyond. The collaboration between the two airlines will not only benefit travellers with increased flight options but will also contribute to the growth and development of air travel in the region. This strategic partnership aims to provide seamless travel experiences for passengers, making it easier for them to reach their desired destinations and explore new cultures and landscapes.

Travellers will also benefit from the convenience of having their luggage transferred to their final destination, eliminating the need for multiple check-ins and ensuring a smoother travel experience. Etihad’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi serves as a gateway to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, offering seamless connections for travellers flying to these regions. Additionally, Batik Air Malaysia’s focus on expanding Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) as a transit hub will further enhance connectivity for Etihad passengers, making it easier for them to reach various destinations in Malaysia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and beyond. This collaboration aims to provide passengers with a more comprehensive and convenient travel experience while offering them a wider range of flight choices and destinations to explore.

In conclusion, the partnership between Etihad and Batik Air Malaysia opens up new opportunities for travellers, with additional flights to popular destinations in Malaysia, Vietnam, and Australia. The collaboration aims to enhance connectivity, provide passengers with a wider range of flight options, and ensure a seamless travel experience for those traveling through Abu Dhabi and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). With both airlines committed to offering exceptional service and hospitality, passengers can look forward to a convenient and enjoyable journey as they explore new international destinations and connect with different cultures around the world.
