As temperatures rise across the UAE, the demand for air conditioner maintenance and repair technicians has increased significantly. Homes and vehicles are struggling to keep cool, leading to a surge in service requests. Maintenance shops are reporting a surge in demand, with technicians working around the clock to meet customer needs. Daniel Saison, the owner of Repair Pro in Al Barsha, mentioned that during summer, they handle between 50 to 60 jobs weekly. Most customers are opting to replace older units with new ones for a more sustainable solution. Repair costs typically range from Dh80-Dh100 for window AC units and Dh150-Dh200 for split AC units.
Ahmed from Olive Green Building Maintenance in International City, Dubai, reported an 80 per cent increase in chiller and split AC maintenance requests. The trend of high demand for AC maintenance is expected to continue until September. However, some companies, like Faran Technical Services in Al Satwa, are facing slower business due to increased competition in the market. In Sharjah, Mohammad Nizamuddin, managing a car garage in the industrial area, highlighted the high demand for car AC repairs, with prices varying based on the type of vehicle.
Car AC mechanics in Al Quoz and Al Barsha are also experiencing a surge in demand for their services. Vijoy, from Al Quoz, mentioned that nearly every third or fourth car they see has AC issues, keeping them busy with refilling refrigerants and diagnosing leaks and blockages. To optimize AC performance, experts recommend parking in shaded areas, using recirculation mode, and turning off the AC before switching off the ignition. The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) forecasts temperatures ranging from 40°C-49°C across various regions in the UAE.
