Indians with an ordinary passport can now apply online for a pre-approved visa-on-arrival for entry to the UAE as a visitor for a period of 14 days, provided they hold a US green card or a residence visa in the UK or European Union countries. The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai stated that this short-term visa can be extended for another 14 days for one time only. Travellers were previously granted visa-on-arrival at UAE airports, but now they must apply online before their visit. The online application process includes providing personal details, filling out requirements, and paying the fees of Dh253.
To be eligible for the pre-approved visa-on-arrival, Indian tourists must have a valid passport, a green card issued by the USA, or a residence visa issued by the UK or European Union countries, and a personal photo with a white background. The application process can be done on the GDRFA website, and after approval, the visa is sent to the user’s email within 48 hours. It’s important to note the terms and conditions set by the GDRFA, such as having no entry restrictions preventing the traveler from entering the UAE and ensuring the validity of the passport or travel document for at least 6 months.
In addition to the online application process, Emirates also announced a pre-approved visa-on-arrival facility for some Indian passport holders who book their travel with the airline. This single entry visa allows Emirates customers to avoid queues upon arrival in Dubai and is processed by the Dubai Visa Processing Centre. However, it is emphasized that the issuance of visas remains at the discretion of the GDRFA. With these updates, Indian tourists visiting the UAE can now enjoy a more streamlined visa application process and entry experience, making their travel to the country more convenient and hassle-free.
