The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched an integrated scholarship programme for 15 students born on 9/9/2009 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Dubai Metro. This initiative is in line with the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to develop the country’s human capital. The programme supports students across three phases starting from practical training at RTA to earning a specialised bachelor’s degree in railway-related engineering and eventually joining the Fast Track Programme for engineers at the Rail Agency. Graduates will receive accredited professional certifications and specialized training to advance their careers.
In the first phase, students will undergo practical training at RTA during summer and winter breaks, participate in railway-focused training programmes with strategic partners, and visit railway project sites. The second phase involves university studies for four to five years to earn a specialised bachelor’s degree in railway-related engineering. This phase also includes participation in leadership forums, key events organised by RTA, and field visits to project sites. The third phase focuses on employment at the Rail Agency and joining the Fast Track Programme for engineers, where participants will receive technical and administrative training to position them as the next generation of specialists at RTA.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, highlighted the initiative’s positive contributions towards Dubai’s leadership in providing sustainable and future-forward mobility solutions for the region. This effort aligns with RTA’s mission to cultivate and empower Emirati talent, preparing a new generation of leaders capable of anticipating future challenges and driving innovation. Additionally, RTA has launched the ‘Professional Engineering Career Path’ and ‘Fast Track’ initiatives to offer a career path for specialized engineering roles and attract top Emirati engineering graduates with outstanding qualifications.
The scholarship programme aims to nurture promising young Emirati talent in line with Dubai’s vision for the future of the roads and transport sector. By fostering a nurturing environment, RTA is preparing a new generation of leaders capable of crafting innovative solutions to drive Dubai’s progress. This initiative will contribute to advancing RTA’s growth and development agenda, both now and in the future. Recently, RTA has introduced initiatives to enhance job stability for engineers and attract top Emirati engineering graduates to become specialists in the field.
