On the first day of the new academic year in the UAE, motorists can take advantage of a unique opportunity to reduce four black points from their driving records by signing a pledge and following all traffic rules. This initiative is aimed at promoting safe driving as thousands of students return to school after the summer break on August 26. Drivers can log in to the Ministry of Interior’s website with their UAE Pass to sign the six-point pledge, which includes commitments to maintain a safe distance, give priority to pedestrians, wear a seatbelt, adhere to speed limits, avoid using a mobile phone while driving, and give way to emergency vehicles.

To qualify for the initiative, motorists must ensure they do not commit any traffic violations or accidents on the specified date. By signing the pledge and adhering to the rules, drivers can have four black points removed from their records automatically on September 14, if all terms and conditions are met. A certificate of participation will be sent to the motorist’s email as confirmation.

Black points are penalties imposed on motorists for serious traffic violations, with the number of points varying based on the severity of the offense. These points can lead to fines and even the suspension of a driving license if accumulated over a year. The initiative to reduce black points for following traffic rules is part of a campaign to promote responsible driving and create a safer traffic environment by encouraging adherence to safety regulations throughout the year.

The six key traffic rules outlined in the pledge focus on ensuring safe driving practices, such as maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, prioritizing pedestrians at crossings, wearing a seatbelt, following speed limits, avoiding the use of handheld mobile phones while driving, and giving way to emergency vehicles. This initiative serves as an incentive for motorists to prioritize safety on the roads and contribute to reducing accidents through responsible behavior behind the wheel.

Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harithi, chairman of the Federal Traffic Council, emphasized the importance of promoting responsible driving habits through campaigns like this initiative. By raising awareness about the significance of following traffic rules and fostering a culture of safe driving, the aim is to create a traffic environment that is free from accidents and ensures the well-being of all road users. This initiative not only offers a practical benefit of reducing black points for drivers but also serves as a reminder to prioritize safety on the roads throughout the year.

In conclusion, the initiative to reduce black points for motorists who sign a pledge and adhere to traffic rules on the first day of the new academic year in the UAE is a proactive step towards promoting responsible driving practices. By incentivizing safe behavior behind the wheel, this campaign aims to create a safer traffic environment and prevent accidents on the roads. Through collective efforts and a commitment to following traffic regulations, drivers can contribute to a culture of responsible driving that benefits everyone on the road.
