As part of a new initiative in Dubai, delivery riders will soon have access to air-to-water dispensers that can produce around 100 liters of drinking water per day. The initiative, a collaboration between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group, aims to provide three air-to-water dispensers in the rest areas of delivery riders in the first phase of the project. These dispensers operate at a temperature of 30ºC and 65% humidity, utilizing technology that uses atmospheric humidity to generate safe drinking water.
This initiative is part of RTA’s larger program to construct 40 air-conditioned rest areas for delivery riders across Dubai. By partnering with Majid Al Futtaim, the safety of the rapidly growing delivery sector is expected to be enhanced, ultimately improving the well-being of delivery drivers. Several rest areas have already been completed, with the remaining ones scheduled for construction in three phases. The CEO of the licensing agency for RTA, Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, highlighted that this sustainable solution not only provides safe drinking water to delivery bike drivers but also helps reduce the environmental footprint.
Majid Al Futtaim’s contribution to providing safe drinking water for delivery drivers is significant for their health and well-being, especially considering the long hours they spend working outdoors. The implementation of air-to-water dispensers in the rest areas is seen as a practical and innovative solution to address the water needs of delivery riders, ensuring that they have access to clean drinking water while on the job. The partnership between RTA and Majid Al Futtaim is a step towards promoting sustainability, safety, and well-being for individuals working in the delivery sector in Dubai.
As the project progresses, it is expected to have a positive impact on the overall sustainability of the delivery sector in Dubai. By providing access to safe drinking water through innovative technologies like air-to-water dispensers, the initiative addresses a crucial need for delivery riders who often work long hours in challenging outdoor conditions. The partnership between RTA and Majid Al Futtaim reflects a commitment to supporting the well-being and safety of individuals working in the delivery industry, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more sustainable urban environment in Dubai.
With the implementation of air-to-water dispensers in the rest areas of delivery riders, Dubai is taking a proactive step towards addressing key challenges faced by individuals in the delivery sector. By providing a reliable source of drinking water, the initiative not only ensures the health and well-being of delivery drivers but also aligns with broader sustainability goals. The use of innovative technologies to generate drinking water from atmospheric humidity demonstrates a commitment to leveraging advancements in science and technology for the benefit of workers in the delivery industry.
Overall, the introduction of air-to-water dispensers in the rest areas of delivery riders in Dubai represents a significant step towards promoting sustainability, safety, and well-being in the delivery sector. Through partnerships between government entities like RTA and private organizations like Majid Al Futtaim, innovative solutions are being implemented to address the needs of individuals working in challenging outdoor environments. As the project continues to expand and evolve, it is expected to have a lasting and positive impact on the lives of delivery drivers, contributing to a more sustainable and supportive work environment in Dubai.
