Syrian Air announced the resumption of flights between Damascus and Jeddah, starting November 7. The flights will operate at a frequency of two times a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. The Director General of Syrian Airlines, Hatem Kabbas, highlighted that the resumption of flight services will benefit the community members of both countries and enhance transportation and communication. Travelers interested in booking tickets are advised to contact Syrian Airlines offices. Regular flights between the two airports had been suspended since May 2016. In July, the first flight from Syrian Airlines arrived at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, marking a significant moment for bilateral relations.

Syria recently operated direct flights to transport Hajj pilgrims from Damascus to Jeddah, ending a 12-year period of isolation due to the civil war. The resumption of these flights signifies a positive step towards rebuilding diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Syria. In April 2023, both countries agreed to resume consular services, followed by the restoration of full diplomatic relations in May 2023. The appointment of ambassadors from both sides further solidified the growing ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria. Dr. Faisal bin Saud Al-Mujfel was named as Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Syria in May 2024, while Syria’s new Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Soussan took office in Riyadh earlier this year.

The resumption of flights between Damascus and Jeddah is expected to facilitate increased connectivity between the two countries and promote stronger ties. The decision to resume flight services comes as a result of the collaborative efforts made by both nations to enhance bilateral relations. The operation of two flights per week will provide greater convenience to travelers, allowing for easier access between the two cities. The move is aimed at promoting economic, cultural, and social exchanges between Saudi Arabia and Syria, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation.

With the resumption of flights, Syrian Air aims to serve the needs of the community members traveling between Damascus and Jeddah. The operation of regular flights will not only benefit travelers but also contribute to the overall advancement of transportation and communication networks in the region. By restoring this essential air link, Syrian Air is playing a crucial role in reconnecting the two countries and facilitating the movement of people and goods. The resumption of flight services signifies a positive development in the ongoing efforts to rebuild and strengthen ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria, following years of isolation.

Travelers interested in flying between Damascus and Jeddah can now book tickets with Syrian Airlines and benefit from the convenient two flights per week schedule. The resumption of flights will provide a much-needed connection between the two cities, enabling individuals to travel for various purposes, including business, leisure, and family visits. Syrian Air’s decision to resume operations reflects the airline’s commitment to serving the needs of its passengers and supporting the growth of air travel between Syria and Saudi Arabia. As bilateral relations continue to improve, the resumption of flight services marks a significant milestone in the ongoing process of rebuilding diplomatic ties and promoting cooperation between the two nations.

In conclusion, the resumption of flights between Damascus and Jeddah by Syrian Air represents a positive development in the efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Syria. The decision to operate two flights per week will enhance connectivity between the two countries and promote economic, cultural, and social exchanges. With the ongoing efforts to rebuild ties between the two nations, the resumption of flight services serves as a key step towards fostering mutual understanding and cooperation. Travelers can now take advantage of the increased flight frequency to conveniently travel between Damascus and Jeddah, contributing to the overall advancement of transportation and communication networks in the region.
