The Riyadh Season 2024 is set to kick off with a unique and captivating experience for visitors as three retired Saudi Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft have made their way from Jeddah to Riyadh for the event. The epic journey of over 1000 km has captured the attention and astonishment of people across the Kingdom. The transportation of the aircraft was meticulously planned under the supervision of Turki Al-Sheikh, the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority. The planes were accompanied by Lucid electric vehicles as they made their way through deserts and mountains, with people sharing their excitement on social media as they posed with the planes.
By repurposing these retired aircraft as interactive spaces for entertainment, dining, and retail, Saudi Airlines is not only reducing waste but also creating a unique cultural and leisure experience for visitors. The BLVD Runway zone, where the planes will be showcased, will feature five world-class restaurants and various aircraft-themed entertainment experiences. Prior to embarking on their journey, the aircraft underwent extensive preparation with non-essential components removed, leaving only the fuselages, which were then loaded onto specialized transport vehicles.
The Boulevard Runway zone, a collaboration between GEA and Saudi Airlines, will open to visitors from October 28. The zone will feature three Boeing 777 aircraft where visitors can explore and enjoy entertainment, shopping, and dining in a distinctive atmosphere inside the planes. The aircraft will be equipped in innovative ways, offering a variety of foods from specialized international restaurants. Events such as “Flight 1661”, “Sky Siege”, and the “Fun Zone” area will also be organized, providing diverse experiences in the world of aviation for families and friends.
Visitors to the BLVD Runway zone during the Riyadh Season will have the opportunity to explore the interiors of the retired aircraft, dine in the cabins, and enjoy interactive exhibits showcasing the history and technological advancements of aviation. The zone will not only provide immersive experiences but also serve as a celebration of Saudi Arabia’s aviation heritage. These Boeing 777s, once a part of Saudia’s fleet, will stand as living monuments to the airline’s past, reminding visitors of the nation’s journey in the skies. The zone is expected to be a major draw for visitors from across the globe, offering a unique and unforgettable experience during the Riyadh Season 2024.
