The Yemeni Prime Minister, Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, along with a government delegation, visited the headquarters of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) in Riyadh. During the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed on the Kingdom’s humanitarian aid initiatives, which have reached 171 countries with a total value of $132 billion. Specifically, $27 billion has been directed towards the Yemeni people. The discussions at the meeting focused on the progress of relief and humanitarian initiatives led by Saudi Arabia through KSrelief to support the people of Yemen, with a focus on strategies to strengthen these efforts.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, emphasized the center’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of underprivileged, afflicted, and displaced communities in Yemen. He highlighted that this assistance reflects the Kingdom’s humanitarian values under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Kingdom’s official development assistance (ODA) accounted for 1.9 percent of its gross national income in 2014, surpassing the UN’s recommended target for nations to allocate 0.7% of their GNI to ODA.

The meeting also showcased the humanitarian projects undertaken by KSrelief, totaling 3,068 projects across 102 nations with a value of $7 billion. Within this framework, the center has implemented 976 humanitarian projects exceeding $4 billion, with a focus on critical sectors like initiatives for women and children. Specialized projects in Yemen include the rehabilitation of war-affected children, the Saudi Project for Landmine Clearance “MASAM,” and the artificial limbs program. The Saudi program for separating conjoined twins, which began in 1990, has performed 61 separation surgeries within the Kingdom and evaluated cases from 26 countries, including Yemen.

Saudi Arabia is recognized as one of the leading host countries for refugees, with an estimated 1,093,000 refugees residing within the Kingdom. This accounts for 5.26 percent of the population, with a significant number of refugees from Yemen, Syria, and Myanmar. The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the extensive humanitarian, relief, and charitable assistance provided by the Saudi government and people to Yemen, highlighting the strong fraternal ties between the two nations.

Overall, the visit of the Yemeni government delegation to KSrelief in Riyadh highlighted the Kingdom’s significant contributions to humanitarian efforts globally, specifically in supporting the people of Yemen. The commitment of KSrelief to assisting underprivileged and distressed communities was underscored during the discussions, emphasizing the Kingdom’s noble humanitarian ethos under the leadership of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. This meeting showcased the various projects and initiatives led by KSrelief, including those tailored for women and children, as well as specialized programs in Yemen, such as rehabilitation and landmine clearance. The Prime Minister’s appreciation for the support provided by Saudi Arabia reflects the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two nations.
