Saudi Arabia takes part in G20 Women’s Empowerment Ministerial Meeting in Brazil

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recently participated in the G20 Women Empowerment Working Group Ministerial Meeting in Brasilia, Brazil. Led by Dr. Maimoonah Al-Khalil, Secretary-General of the Family Affairs Council, the delegation focused on key priorities such as gender equality, combating violence and discrimination against women, and climate justice. The meeting, held under the theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” aimed to advance initiatives that support and empower women globally. Dr. Al-Khalil highlighted the Kingdom’s achievements in women’s empowerment, particularly the increase in women’s participation in the workforce, which has reached 35.4% by 2024. She also emphasized the adoption of the National Policy for Equal Opportunities and Treatment in Employment and Profession in 2023, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s vision for equal opportunities and gender justice.

Gender equality and women’s empowerment have become key priorities for countries around the world, and Saudi Arabia is no exception. The Kingdom’s delegation at the G20 Women Empowerment Working Group Ministerial Meeting in Brasilia highlighted the progress made in these areas, including the significant increase in women’s participation in the workforce. Dr. Al-Khalil emphasized the National Policy for Equal Opportunities and Treatment in Employment and Profession, which aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader vision for gender equality and justice. These initiatives demonstrate the Kingdom’s commitment to empowering women and creating a more equitable society.
